CM Punjab starts providing disability aids & enrolment drive for out-of-school special children

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the establishment of 300 Special Education Schools as centres of Excellence across Punjab. She attended the special education ceremony for the provision of hearing aid and the launching of an enrollment campaign.

The CM left her seat and sat among the special children. She held a special child in her lap. She visited a stall being established with the cooperation of UNICEF and GPE for the hearing aid.. She monitored a medical test of the children deprived of their hearing ability. She also inspected the handicrafts and paintings of the special children. The students of Special Education Sargodha presented CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif a painting and a sketch. She expressed her affection with the children for making a painting and a sketch. She formally launched enrolment campaign for school special children.

The Special Children recited Holy Quran and Naat-e-Rasool SAW and female children deprived of eye- sight presented national anthem and a national song. UNICEF representative Abdullah Fadil and Secretary Special Education also addressed the ceremony. CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif asked the special children to sit on the stage before her speech. She instead of standing before a traditional dais addressed the ceremony by sitting among the children. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif while addressing the ceremony of Special Education said, “They are my dear children, all are my heroes. I expresse my gratitude to UNISEF, GPE and Special Education on giving hearing aids and also commend them. I am heartily pleased to meet the special children. . I am going to launch provision of wheel chair project soon. If the children are provided hearing aid and eye glasses then they can come to public school from a special school. Punjab Education Department has introduced new transfer policy for teachers of the province as per which transfers could be now carried out throughout the year on hardship grounds.

Punjab Education Minister RanaSikandar Hayat has approved the new transfer policy.
As per new policy, transfers of disables, divorced and teachers residing at long distance could be carried out throughout the year.

UN delegation, CM Punjab agree to cooperate in various fields

Lahore: The United Nations delegation met Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz in which it was agreed to further increase cooperation in various fields.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was met by a 22-member delegation led by the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan Muhammad Yahya, including the local heads of the UN subsidiaries.

In the meeting, it was agreed to further increase cooperation in education, health, agriculture and other sectors. The ongoing development projects with the cooperation of United Nations organizations were also discussed. Chief Minister Maryam informed about education and health sector reforms and government policy.

Maryam Nawaz said that the agriculture of Punjab has full potential to change the economy of Pakistan. The improvement and reforms in every sector are the priorities. ‘I will try to solve every public problem and matter on a priority basis’.

New transfer policy introduced for teachers

She stated that the people will soon benefit from the results of the reforms. For service delivery and good governance, the grading system of officers is being implemented for the first time and also fulfills the target of building 0.1 million houses with the cooperation of UN institutions.

The Chief Minister of Punjab added, “Despite the obstacles, I consider it an honor to be the Chief Minister. Seeing the deprived economy and poor people, I keep thinking of strengthening them financially. I want to see every woman of Punjab financially independent and happy. The common focus of the project and our priorities is public service”.

Punjab government will provide eyeglasses and hearing aids to 700,000 students 

The students in the schools across Punjab will be subjected to medical check-up of their eyesight and hearing abilities. Those students having weak eyesight and hearing disabilities will be provided with spectacles and hearing aids. The screening process in the government and private schools across Punjab will be launched soon,” Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was told during a meeting with a delegation of ATscale that would provide Rs500m financial assistance in this regard.

The matters related to the steps being taken to meet nutritional needs of the schoolchildren also came under review.

“At first a government school for the children suffering from autism in Punjab will be established in Lahore. It is the right of every child to attain education according to international standards,” the chief minister said.

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz held a meeting with Benedik Aneselmann, the regional executive vice president of TUV Rheinland Company, Germany. The matters related to the provision of their technical assistance for welfare projects in Punjab, including third-party monitoring, project management, certification and auditing of development projects were discussed. She invited the company to benefit from the rich business opportunities in Punjab.
